OVERLORD’S BLOG: [WoT] More on the Upcoming
A Closer Look at How World of Tanks Was Intentionally Created To those who haven’t been with the game for too long, this piece is here to enlighten you about how Wargaming operates as a company. Generally when people suggest the game being rigged, or that the matchmaker is out to get them, or anything like that, they quickly get shot down by the giant army of Wargaming fanboys. This isn’t to say that those claims are true per se, but there’s a significant lack of reason amongst many of the diehard World of Tanks players. There are certain topics that, when brought up on the forums or elsewhere, they bring in all the trolls and the original poster is basically laughed away from the game. It’s these topics which I will now discuss in detail. The Early Days Back in closed beta and the days of the game’s release , it was particularly obvious that World of Tanks was a very fun, creative, and new take on a player versus player game. There simply wasn’t anything like it, and this drew many big-time gamers in. It was also very obvious that, if you were to get drawn into the game and start spending money, you could spend a great deal indeed. The very clever thing that Wargaming did in beta was giving everyone free gold, every single day.

Full implementation of our modified ELO matchmaking solution. Instead they are using regular heat sink value of 0. This is the bug, it has been fixed in the upcoming November 6th patch. During the testing of the DHS bug we uncovered a long standing heat related bug.
This isn’t to say that those claims are true per se, but there’s a significant lack of reason amongst many of the diehard World of Tanks players.
Additionally, since the 1X was built before the discovery of the Helm Memory Core, it lacks any advanced Star League technology and is built with a standard VOX engine. The ‘Mech also lacks the jump jets of the 3D model. An extra ton of autocannon ammo is carried, while two heat sinks have been replaced for two additional tons of armor. Other differences include the use of four Medium Pulse Laser and double heat sinks in place of the standard models.
Tonnage is freed up for its three tons of ammunition by swapping out the two forward-facing pulse lasers for ER Medium Lasers. The reduced heat load gives the 3LL the luxury of not building heat before it is damaged. In a strange twist of fate, the copious ammunition bins for the autocannons became popular with the creation of special munitions, making this design much more well-liked than it had been in the past.
The inclusion of a Small Cockpit allows for the armor to be increased to eleven and a half tons worth. Mounting Ferro-Fibrous armor allows a ton less to be carried to be devoted to CASE in each torso, while switching all its heat sinks to doubles improves its heat dissipation. Also, it has 4 one-shot Ten-Tube Rocket Launchers mounted into both torsos.
To handle the heat load, the ‘Mech has 15 Double heat sinks. To give it mobility, the customized machine has four Jump Jets mounted into its torsos.
Tiger H (WoT)
It is the first historically-themed special offer we have had for quite a while, and with it there is a wide variety of British, German, and American tanks involved in the offer. Soviet and Chinese tanks are not included, and the only French offerings are two premiums that, in reality, were German adaptations of captured French armour.
Historically themed offers do not allow so much flexibility for Wargaming, which might be why we have seen less of them of late.
Removed camouflage from some tank destroyers that cannot be removed by players upon selecting another camouflage pattern.
THE Defining Difference Between the Tiers When people ask me about what the difference is between low tiers and high tiers, there is one thing which comes to mind, one thing that matters, one thing that, by itself, represents a huge shift in design philosophy from the first tier to the last. This thing is the ratio of DPM-to-health.
It is why low tier play is fast-paced and high tier play is slow-paced. It is why low tier play is dominated by strong individuals and high tier play is dominated by unified teams. The difference in this ratio between the low tiers and high tiers has allowed for two wildly different games to exist within the same framework, and it just so happens that the low tier side of things is far and away better than high tiers in this defining aspect.
The ratio of DPM-to-health is a measure of how fast you can expect things to die over a long period of time. In other words, given how much damage something can do in a minute and the health of the targets being destroyed, the ratio expresses how many targets will die in one minute. Divide this number into 60 and you get how many seconds it takes for one thing to die.
Higher ratios mean destroying more stuff in the same time. It should be somewhat apparent to anyone who’s spent time in WoT across the tiers that this ratio is highest at the lower tiers and lowest at the higher tiers. Similarly, reload times tend to increase by climbing tiers. It’s not as though low tiers have a high ratio because they have high tier reloads and alpha that strongly overmatches every tank in the tier.
This combination of low reload and high DPM-to-health ratio result in two major things, the first of which is fast and active gameplay. Weapons are much more “live” in low tiers without the long reloads that act as safety periods for enemies to move around safely.

Added the new winter map, “Glacier”. Changes to the Graphics and Effects The new water has been added to all maps; now it varies: Added new effects on all maps: Added realistic shell tracers. Reworked all vehicle effects:

The Match maker is a complicated issue that is being addressed. Players would like to see both more even battles, less , balanced artillery with a maximum number in a game, scouts being available in only those battles that artillery are present, platoon balance, not constantly being put in the lowest tiers in a battle, and the spread of the tiers.
This all needs to be done without taking a long time to find you a match. This sums up the whole problem in a nutshell. I say that because its rare to wait more than 15 seconds for a match right now, and often as soon as you hit the battle button, you are dropped immediately into place. While complicated, the first version of this new Match Maker should be available around the 7.
It will take into account many of the above listed issues that players have brought up. The one thing that will be absent is a hard 3 tier spread. While this is on the surface good news, its kind of a silver bullet as well. For example, one of the most enjoyable matches in the game now is one of the battles the matchmaker will created that involves only tanks from tiers 3, 4 , and 5.
Now as you can imagine, that kind of stuff happened in real life…and it was about as fun as it ends up being in the game. It will try to create fun and balanced matches with vehicles that are available at the time. It will no longer immediately assign you to the first available battle you are qualified for, but rather hold your tank and make it available to several matches that are gathering players. This will add the flexibility of generating better matches.
World of Tanks, PC players thread
If you think that the fast play of low tiers is too tough for new players and is instead what experienced players should be drawn towards, then WoT is this topsy-turvy mess where low tiers are the premier gameplay mode and high tiers are a tutorial that’s way too far out of reach.
Another good round in my SuperP: Victory Airfield Saturday, August 24, So I initially decided to go along the airstrip to try hull down in spots. Ended up having a solid team. We were able to take the hill overlooking the hangars when I noticed an FCM about to kill one of ours. I was too late to get him before he killed two of ours. For whatever reason, the JPIV didn’t kill me.
Had some help on the Tiger and luckily the Lowe player sucked. Was trying to ever so slowly get to cap when they started their cap. Knew they had arty out there somewhere and ran into him figuring better to kill me than to stop our cap. Killed him and was able to get on cap with 10s left. Still like my SuperP.

I think if I had the DW2 in proper matches of tier 4’s, I wouldn’t be in such a bad position As you said, I best just take it until I get 10k more xp and go to the VK Normal vehicles in WoT’s will only ever see vehicles two tiers higher then them.
Your only problems will be running out of ammo mid-fight and the enemy returning fire.

Available for American Lights at tier 5, Mediums at tier 6, and Heavies at tier 7.
American As you can see, in addition to vehicles that fought, there are quite a few of prototypes, paper projects, and immediate postwar vehicles. Below the main trees are “special tanks” – on the left are premium tanks bought with real money, on the right are ones that you’ll get either with the game box, or at special events. Combat is fairly straightforward – two teams of fifteen tanks each start on opposite sides of a map, about a kilometer square.
Each team starts near a flag; around a flag there is a meter circle. If an enemy tank drives within that circle, they start accumulating capture points – if your flag is captured, you lose; unless you capture the enemy flag within 10 seconds of your own flag being captured, in which case the round is a draw. If the game isn’t over in 15 minutes, it’s also a draw.
Leave a comment I was originally going to write about a game I played on Sunday night with two clanmates from QSF-X in which we achieved my first Crucial Contribution medal. The map was Abbey , and the southern start position. Initially the T69 moved to the centre, to the abbey itself, which he proceeded to dominate the entire match.
Suppose you have a new player in the low tiers of the game.
Whether vehicles are stock or fully researched, how they are equipped, nor crew skill is taken into account by the match-maker. Vehicle Tier Vehicle tier is not taken into consideration when balancing teams. This is a common misconception among players. For example, under the current rules a tier 8 medium can be matched against a tier 7 heavy tank. The only relevance of vehicle tier is to determine the battle tier. However, the top tanks of each team have the same vehicle tier due to the current balancing rules.
The vehicle tier should be taken into consideration as it reflects a preordained operating range of a vehicle also known as classification. The range of each tier gradually increases with technology and tiers can overlap. If you are in a platoon, the entire platoon is placed into battles according to the platoon member in the vehicle with the highest battle tier. This can produce unwanted results in particular for new players at the lower tiers.
For example, a tier 4 scout can enter battles up to tier 7, whereas a tier 4 medium tank on its own can only join battles up to tier 6.

This also includes equivalent calibers in inches, pounds, or centimeters. The GLD is particularly useful on certain guns which have a very long aim time. On vehicles which can mount vertical stabilizers, use a GLD in combination with a Vertical Stabilizer for maximum aim time reduction, but vertical stabilizers are generally considered more beneficial than GLDs when available. GLDs are available on almost all vehicles of all Nations, from Tier
Extra info was taken from vbaddict to get a better idea of tank frequency.
Matchmaking Matchmaking The composition of tanks in each team is a task of matchmaker. It works in following manner. It takes one tank from the queue and looks at his tier. For example it is IS – russian heavy with tier 7. The matchmaker takes the corresponding line from the table below and sees that the IS has battle tiers from 7 till 9. Randomly is the tier for battle selected. In our example let it be 8 from 7 to 9 incl. The matchmaker takes tanks from queue, which can participate in tier 8 battles see column number 8 in the table and puts them in 2 teams.
In our battle we can face Tiger II and for example M6 both can participate in tier 8 battles. There are 12 battle tiers.
